Disney Cruise Line Update

Wednesday, April 24th, 2013

As we had reported a few days ago, two new Disney Cruise Line penny machines that were scheduled to be installed today did go in and are now on-stage. Both machines are in a dual cabinet inside the Disney Cruise Line Terminal.

This is exciting news since there have not been any Cruise Line designs available on any of the Disney cruise ships or at the terminal since January 2001. What is interesting with these designs are that they have a backstamp with the Disney Cruise Line logo. Disneyland has had designs with a backstamp, but there has never been a design at Disney World or the Cruise Line that has had one. This type of design is referred to as a "Mule" by elongated coin collectors since there is something on both sides of the coin.

NOTE: Keep in mind that all six of these new designs will not be available to the general public since the machines are located in an area that is only accessible to passengers with a cruise ticket.

Below are pictures of the machine and the faceplates showing what the six new Disney Cruise Line designs look like.

Disney Cruise Line

Saturday, April 20th, 2013

According to the latest Disney Pressed Coin Press Checklist, two 3-die machines are coming soon to the Disney Cruise Lines. These two machines are scheduled to be installed inside the cruise line terminal at Port Canaveral, Florida on April 24.

On the Disney Checklist, it shows one machine having designs with Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy and Mickey with Cruise Ship. The second machine will have designs with Disney Magic, Disney Wonder and Castaway Cay.

NOTE: All six of these new designs that are scheduled to be available on April 24th will not be available to the general public. The two machines will be located in an area that will only be accessible to passengers with a cruise ticket.

Years ago, there used to be Disney pressed coin designs at other locations near Walt Disney World. Some of these locations were the Disney Worldport, Disney Cruise Line ships and the I-75 Florida Welcome Center. Currently, only Vero Beach and Hilton Head Island Resorts that are fairly close to Disney World property have pressed coins that are available.

In the past, our web site did not have any information about any of the current or retired designs that were at any off-property locations. With the addition of these six new designs at the cruise line terminal, we will be making changes to our web site to include information about Disney designs at any off-property locations that are close to Walt Disney World.

As soon as we have more details about these new Disney Cruise Line designs, we will post additional information and any pictures on our News Blog.

France World Showcase Machine Is Back

Sunday, March 24th, 2013

The machine at the France World Showcase at EPCOT with the secret Agent P design that was removed for the France Pavilion remodeling is finally back on-stage. Keep in mind that the hidden Agent P design can only be obtained by playing Disney Phineas and Ferb: Agent P's World Showcase Adventure. When you sign up for this adventure you have to request your adventure to be at the France Pavilion.

Even though this design is free, it is also one of the most difficult designs to get since not all adventures for the France Pavilion will take you to the France elongated machine. If your adventure does take you to the machine, you will be instructed to get a penny from a cast member. You can either use this penny or your own copper penny when your high-tech detection device called F.O.N.E., or Field Operative Notification Equipment instructs you to insert your coin.

Database and Listings Updated Today

Thursday, February 21st, 2013

Our database and several listings were updated today. We have also added our catalog numbers to our Current Checklist since we have been receiving several requests for our catalog numbers to be included on this checklist. We will also be including our catalog numbers on the Current Checklist with Changes checklist with the next update.

You are free to use our catalog numbers to reference designs when discussing designs with other collectors or on eBay listings. We always recommend that each person develop their own catalog numbering system that fits their needs for their own collection.

At first, we tried using other catalog numbering systems and while they worked for awhile, the person or persons doing the updating stopped doing updates. Even worse with some catalog numbering systems, modifications and changes to the catalog numbers were made. It became a nightmare trying to keep our catalog numbers in sync with whatever numbering system we were using. Plus, anytime we got a new design that wasn't assigned a catalog number, we never knew if or when a number would be assigned. It took several years, but the more we got into the hobby, we started realizing that it's much easier doing our own numbering system.
