On August 17th, Cap'n Jack's Oyster Bar restaurant at Downtown Disney closed due to the construction of the new Disney Springs. There were two 3-die electric penny machines at this location. One machine had Minnie's face, Villains 1 of 7 series with Jafar and Mickey's face. The second machine had Goofy's face, Wall-E 6 of 7 and Wall-E 5 of 7. It is unknown at this time if any of these designs will be relocated so we will be marking all six of these designs as being retired. |

We have just received a report that the pressed penny machine that looks like an early 1900's fire pump has been relocated back to the Firehouse Station at the Magic Kingdom. For years this machine was located at the Main Street USA Firehouse Gift Station. This gift store closed in 2011 for remodeling and the machine was unavailable for almost a year. After the remodeling of the Firehouse Station Engine Co. 71 building, it reopened as a place to receive a key and five power spell cards to play Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. At that time, the fire pump pressed penny machine was no longer available at this location. This machine eventually reappeared in January 2012 at the Prop Shop at Hollywood Studios. The designs that were available when the machine was at the Firehouse Station had been replaced with three dies that were at two different Disney resorts but had been off-stage for about 10 years. The fire pump machine is now back to the Firehouse Station and it contains the same three designs as it did when it was at the Prop Shop at Hollywood Studios. The bad thing is that due to us assigning a catalog prefix by location, we now have three designs that were assigned a resort catalog number, then a Disney Hollywood Studios catalog number and now will have to be assigned a Magic Kingdom catalog number. |
