Database, Listings and Checklists Updated Today

Monday, February 10th, 2020

Our database and all of our listings and checklists were updated today. Since our last listings all of the 2019 dated coins and Mickey's 90th Birthday designs have been removed and replaced.

Another change that has been completed is that there are no longer any 4-die machines that are still on-stage at Walt Disney World that still cost $0.50 plus your penny that you want to press. The last of the 4-die machines not converted have been removed and some of them have returned as converted $1.00 preloaded zinc penny machines. The most recent 4-die machines that were removed and have not been put back on-stage have a note on our listings that the machine is currently off-stage.

4-Die Hand Crank Machine Conversion Update

Tuesday, January 28th, 2020

We had previously posted last year and have given updates about the 4-die hand crank machines being converted to $1.00 preloaded zinc penny machines. This conversion began the beginning of May 2019 with the conversion of the Tomorrowland Speedway machine at Magic Kingdom. At the same time there were two new 4-die machines with preloaded zinc pennies that cost $1.00 for each design placed on-stage at the Main Street Railroad Station. The rest of the 4-die hand crank machines at Magic Kingdom were then removed and converted by the middle of June 2019. Epcot was the next park where 4-die machines were removed and by the end of 2019 most of the 4-die hand crank machines had either been converted or removed.

This conversion is coming to an end with the remaining 4-die machines that have not been converted being removed. All of these few remaining 4-die machines are currently off-stage to be converted except for the one 4-die machine by the Food Trucks at Exposition Park at Disney Springs. One machine has already been placed back on-stage from the most recent machines removed the beginning of January to be converted. This machine is the Boardwalk Promenade Pier machine. With the exception of the 4-die machine that was moved a few weeks ago from Port Orleans French Quarters all of the remaining 4-die machines to be converted are located at Disney Springs.

 2019 Coin Replacement Update

Tuesday, January 28th, 2020

There were five Mickey's 90th Birthday designs as part of the 2019 designs that were placed in different machines. All of the Mickey's 90th Birthday designs were placed on-stage the first part of February 2019 and they have now all been replaced with retired designs from other locations or with the design that was in the machine prior to being changed last year.

The design at Mouse Gears in Epcot and at the Newsstand in Magic Kingdom were the first two machines to be changed back to the designs that were previously in those machines. Both of these were changed back in November which meant these Mickey's 90th Birthday designs were only on-stage for a little over nine months. The three remaining designs were removed this month with the last one being removed recently from Pin Traders at Disney Springs.

The machine located in the Verandah Breezeway near Island Supply at Magic Kingdom was changed back with the previous design that it had. The machine at Disney's Studio Store at Hollywood Studios received a design from a machine that was at Goombay Games Arcade at Caribbean Beach that was placed off-stage May 1, 2017 when major remodeling began at that resort. We previously posted in our News Blog about this change. Another design from this same Goombay Games Arcade machine had Nemo that was the 1 of 6 design from that series. This design replaces the 90th Birthday design that was in Disney's Pin Traders 3-die penny machine at Disney Springs.

The last time that we checked the other twenty-one 2019 designs have all been replaced with 2020 designs or removed except for the 2019 penny design with Chip & Dale inside the Emporium at Magic Kingdom and the 2019 quarter machine design at the Wildlife Express Train Station at Harambe, Africa. So far it appears that there will only be sixteen 2020 designs for this year.

One thing to note is that the 2020 penny that was in a machine inside Mouse Gears at Epcot has been off-stage since January 5 due to the remodeling and the store being moved to a temporary location. So far, this 3-die penny machine has not been moved to the temporary store location and this 2020 design or machine has not been placed back on-stage.

 The Studio Store Machine Change

Wednesday, January 22nd, 2020

The Mickey's 90th Birthday design that has Minnie & Mickey celebrating with the words "World's Biggest Mouse Party that was in the machine at The Studio Store at Hollywood Studios has been replaced with an older retired die. The 3-die penny machine at this location now has the 5 of 6 design from the Formal Mickey series for the button "A" selection. This design has Mickey Mouse in a tuxedo facing right with his arms outstretched. The design was previously in a machine at Goombay Games Arcade at Caribbean Beach Resort but all the machines at that location were removed when a major resort refurbishment began May 1, 2017.

2019 Magic Kingdom Pressed Coin Update

Tuesday, January 21st, 2020

There were a few 2019 anniversary and Mickey's 90th Birthday designs that were not removed when sixteen of those dies were replaced with new 2020 designs. At Magic Kingdom the 2019 penny design at the Emporium is still there as of January 21, 2020. The 2019 quarter at the Emporium has been replaced with the die that has Merida and three bear cubs from the movie Brave that was recently removed from the quarter machine that was at Living with the Land near the Garden Grill Restaurant at Epcot.

In addition to this change the 2019 design that has the words "The World's Biggest Mouse Party" that was in a machine in the Verandah Breezeway near Island Supply has also been replaced. This machine now has a design with Olaf which is the die that was originally in this machine prior to that machine getting a 2019 design.

Star Wars 8-Die Machine Back On-Stage

Thursday, January 16th, 2020

The 8-die Star Wars machine that was located at Tomorrowland Light & Power Co. at Magic Kingdom was removed last year in August. This machine is now back on-stage at Pin Traders at Disney Springs. This brings the total machines at this location to six machines with a total of 28 coins. Two of the machines are 8-die machines with one having Marvel characters and this machine that was placed back on-stage with eight Star Wars designs.

 Resort 4-Die Machines Removed

Saturday, January 11th, 2020

All the 4-die hand crank machines at the four Disney theme parks have been converted to $1.00 preloaded zinc penny machines. The 4-die machines at both Rainforest Cafes and T-Rex Cafe that are owned by Landry's have also been converted.

There are only two 4-die machines at the Disney resorts. One is at Port Orleans French Quarter Sassagoula Floatworks & Food Factory and the other machine is located at the Boardwalk Resort on the Boardwalk Promenade. Both of these machines have been removed to be converted.

This leaves only six 4-die machines at Disney Springs that need to be converted or possibly removed or replaced.

 Epcot Machines Update

Sunday, January 5th, 2020

The Character Connection is now closed and the Big Hero Six machine at that location is no longer available.

The machine at ImageWorks has been removed and there are now two photo booths where this machine used to be located.

Mouse Gears is officially closed as of today and has been moved to a temporary location where Colortopia used to be located at which is behind the Electric Umbrella. The temporary store is a third the size of what Mouse Gears used to be. None of the pressed coin machines that were at Mouse Gears are at this temporary location. This includes the penny machine with the new 2020 design that we reported being on-stage a few days ago. At this time we do not know what will be done with the machines that were at Mouse Gears but hopefully they will show up at this temporary location or placed back on-stage at some other location.
